Voting as Resistance and Hope
America is at an important crossroad. The election is days away and, depending on the results, we may descend further into authoritarianism or begin the slow process of stopping the madness and putting things right. This election will be difficult. There may be armed ICE agents at the polls to intimidate voters. People of color may have their right to vote challenged. Election outcomes that favor democrats will be contested. The election itself may be denounced as illegitimate followed by an attempt to nullify the results. This is why our votes are so important. Voting has become an act of resistance. Voting our values expresses our hopes for an America that respects human worth, values diversity, and is a voice for democracy and compassion around the world. My talk will include a discussion period. Come and share your concerns about the election.
