Music Monday Monthly

  • Monday, September 23, 2024
  • 7:00 PM
  • Zoom

Registration is closed

Every month we will feature a group/solo vocal artist to continue our popular Music Mondays we started for Summer 2024. We'll just make it a monthly online Zoom meeting versus a weekly event. Plus - it makes for a pretty catchy phrase!

So far we have highlighted groups that share a message we might agree or disagree with that can lead to interesting discussion and it helps spread the word about interesting musical artists.

This month Drop Kick Murphys was selected because this band creates a lot of interesting music tied to Irish and laborers roots. They have also worked with Woody Guthrie music. (more detailed below). Below are some selected videos/songs you might want to listen to before the discussion (though that isn't necessary to be part of the discussion).

Worker's Song - a song about a laborer and unions.

Green Fields of Fance - a song about a soldier (all soldiers) lost in battle.

We Shall Overcome - taking the traditional song and putting their punk/folk twist to it.

Here's a short about getting people to vote for the people and not Maga

As well, there is recently released hour-long documentary which features several songs and interview called, This Machine Rising which was working with Woody Guthrie's daughter, Nora and recording unpublished works by Woody Guthrie.

If you have a vocal artist/group you suggest for a future month, please email Melissa Sinclair at this email
