When people think of going green their minds normally picture solar panels, wind turbines and EVs. Dense housing and safe streets are just as critical to reducing our emissions though, and in some places even more so. In this presentation, Matt Herndon will explain how enabling these changes at a local level can build community amongst people while also fighting climate change.
Matt Herndon grew up in the Northern Virginia Ethical Society and spent years working in green tech to try and reduce the ruinous impacts our emissions will produce. Recently, he transitioned to politics to make an even bigger impact and was elected to the State College Borough Council in 2023. He may be the only elected politician who identifies as an Ethical Culturist in the world today but hopes that there are many more to come. This presentation reflects Matt's personal opinions and does not represent the views of the State College Borough Council.
