A growing number of states give terminally ill patients access to the full range of medical care options in their final weeks and days, including medical aid in dying. Medical aid in dying refers to the medical practice of allowing a terminally ill, mentally capable adult to request a prescription to bring about a peaceful death. This presentation will describe efforts to authorize medical aid in dying in Virginia.
